Waiting in your Pain

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD!

Psalm 27:14

Waiting can feel like an unwanted task—one most of us would rather avoid. Yet in life, there will always be seasons of waiting. Waiting is not optional; it is part of the path we walk. In these moments, God often uses the wait to prepare us and to awaken our eyes to see His goodness even before the promise unfolds.

Still, waiting can feel draining. It may seem as though it’s taking more out of you than it’s giving. Your thoughts begin to unravel: Is this where I’m supposed to be? Shouldn’t I be doing something more? But often, the waiting is where growth is quietly taking place. It is maturing us, shaping us, and teaching us to lean in rather than pull away—to resist isolating ourselves in a place where we believe we are enough on our own, when we were never meant to be.

God is present in the waiting. Perhaps you’re walking through a season where the darkness feels relentless. Even there, He sees you. He knows exactly how to bring you through.

The waiting is like an incubator—carefully preparing you for what comes next. It doesn’t just condition us; it reintroduces us to who we truly are. Made in Him, we are being transformed in the wait—renewed and refined. So, choose to wait with love and peace rather than bitterness or resentment. In the waiting, there are lessons to be learned and growth to be gained.

Questions for Reflection

1.  What is God teaching me about trust and dependence on Him during this season of waiting?

2.  How can I choose peace and love instead of frustration while I wait on what God is preparing?

Prayer

Lord,

Let our waiting be a place where we abide in Your presence. Help us choose You each and every day. Father God, strengthen us to remain in You through every season of waiting. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
