Trusting God in All Seasons

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Life with God is a journey of growth. We don’t always travel the same terrain. Sometimes we navigate rough patches; other times the path is smooth, only to turn again onto a dusty road. It can feel unpredictable, leaving us wondering why God doesn’t just keep things familiar and easy. Yet it is in the unfamiliar that He reshapes us. If we never left our comfort zones, we might miss deeper encounters with Jesus and the new adventures He intends for us.

This perspective opens our eyes to the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:17. Being a new creation in Christ isn’t just a concept to admire; it requires us to remove the old identities we’ve clung to—pride, guilt, shame, rebellion, lust, disappointment. We can’t walk in our new identity while still wearing the old.

Each change in terrain calls for different spiritual clothing. As we move forward, God asks us to lay aside the burdens of our past and put on the garments He has tailored for us—His righteousness, hope, and strength. He knows the path ahead and prepares us accordingly. He lovingly “stitches” our new identities, ensuring we’re equipped for whatever lies before us.

If you’re feeling unseen or unsure, take heart. God knows you intimately, and He delights in the path He’s guiding you on—even the hard parts. He’s using every twist and turn to prepare you for what’s next. Trust Him in every season. He is making you new, and He will be with you every step of the way. Let’s commit to finishing strong together, knowing we’re not alone.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. In what areas of your life are you still holding on to an “old identity”? What might it look like to lay that down and embrace the new creation you are in Christ?

  2. Think about the different “terrains” you’ve walked through recently. How have those experiences drawn you closer to God or revealed something new about His character?

Prayer:

Dear God,

We thank You for walking with us. Each day brings a new journey—sometimes over rough terrain, sometimes along smooth paths—yet You never leave our side. We honor Your name and thank You for the strength You give us for today’s journey. Help us to continue with You daily as we say yes to Your will and no to old patterns.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
