FAITH IN OUR LONELY SEASON

Reclaiming Your Identity as God’s Daughter

I can recall reading Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. That book left an impression on me—how a teenage girl could ask God about the things she deeply desired, just to feel included and understood.

I cherished that book. But years have passed, and I’ve found myself asking a similar question in real life:“God, are You there? It’s me, Regina.”

This question became a quiet, ongoing narrative in my heart—especially during dark and lonely seasons when it felt like I was going toe-to-toe with the world alone.

Like that teenage girl, I longed for reassurance—not from peers, but from my Father.I often wondered: Did I do too little? Did I blow it completely? Did I get it all wrong?

These questions began to shape my beliefs. But here’s the truth I want to encourage another daughter of God with:You are not alone. He is with you. He sees you. He’s beside you every step of the journey.

Sometimes God, our Father, is quiet—not to punish us, but to see if we’re listening and if we trust that He’s still near. He’s not angry with you, daughter. He cares for you deeply.

Shame doesn’t get to tell your story.Being God’s daughter means you are never ousted—you are included, loved, and seen.

"I will never leave you nor forsake you." — Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

Remember:You were created by God, fearfully and wonderfully made.

"I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well." — Psalm 139:14 (ESV)

Tips to Walk Through Lonely Seasons in Faith:

1. Stay Rooted in TruthHave you ever seen a plant with compromised roots? It begins to weaken, leaving it vulnerable to disease and destruction. In the same way, when we root ourselves in God’s Word, we protect our minds and hearts from the lies of the enemy. Our roots go deep, even if others can’t see the growth yet.

“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord… They will be like a tree planted by the water… its leaves are always green.” — Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NIV)

2. Know It—and Believe ItYou must know who you are in Christ and believe it. No one else can do that part for you.Choosing to push back the darkness and shame begins with believing what God says about you.

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works." — Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)

3. Ask BoldlyHave you heard the phrase, “You have not because you ask not”? It’s biblical—and true.

"You do not have because you do not ask God." — James 4:2 (NIV)

When we ask, we open ourselves to God’s answers—whether they look like what we expected or not. Asking helps align our heart with His. It opens the door for us to walk in His will with greater faith.

So the next time that question, “God, are You there?” pops into your mind…Speak back:“Yes, Father—I know You’re here. Thank You for never leaving my side.”

Let Me Pray Over You, Sis
